At Home Host Concierge, we love curating unique 5-star homes for our guests to choose from. Still, we also enjoy hand-picking unforgettable experiences tailored to the specific needs and interests of each and every person who walks through the door. When guests stay with us, their decisions go deeper than property descriptions and location, location, location. They want something special.
So, how does our Operations Team works to create those unique experiences? How do we prepare each home to live up to each guest’s expectations and subtly appeal to the things we know make them feel good? Let’s begin by talking a little bit about scent…
The Importance of Scent
A unique and exciting aroma, deliberately placed in a room to spark a particular sensation or feeling, can be extremely attractive. These are the scents we work with when prepping a home before new guests arrive.
In fact, if you’re not all that familiar with the concept, aromatherapy and the use of essential oils is an ancient practice still used today to positively impact our sense of wellbeing in more ways than one. For example:
- Lemon: Lemon is a scent that promotes concentration and clarity. When guests choose to stay in our homes for business purposes, we sometimes employ lemon scents in particular hotspots around the house. It’s a great natural ingredient for problem-solving and keeps our minds as far away from anxious thoughts as possible.
- Peppermint: Peppermint is another appealing scent we use when preparing homes for corporate retreats. It’s the perfect aroma to employ when in the middle of a brainstorming session to boost energy, invigorate the mind and stimulate clear thinking. Incidentally, we might be able to arrange peppermint-flavored treats for corporate parties.
- Lavender & Jasmine: Lavender and Jasmine are two scents we sometimes turn to when we’re preparing a property for the arrival of a guest who has specifically requested a home that will inspire total relaxation. Anyone needing to really relax, switch off from everything and give the body the rest it deserves is the kind of guest who most benefits from rooms scented with lavender. Jasmine is known for its uplifting capabilities, helping guests to feel revitalized and refreshed.
Naturally, these four scents aren’t the be-all and end-all, and they’re certainly not the only scents we appeal to when dressing a home for a new arrival. Still, they help to illustrate how we work our genie magic and how we ensure guests enjoy experiences that will become unforgettable memories.
